Position Summary
The Large assembler will read instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly to route and tie wires to form wire harnesses. With the use of Taping, Heat shrinks and occasionally looming wires to meet customer and internal standards and specifications.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities
· Assembly Preparation: Study assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists. Gather required parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials for the assembly process.
· Component Assembly: Assemble components according to instructions and specifications. Examine connections for correct fit and fasten parts and subassemblies securely.
· Quality Verification: Verify specifications by measuring completed components. Monitor the production process and conduct basic testing and quality checks.
· Tolerance and Standards Compliance: Ensure products are assembled to the correct tolerances. Verify that assembled products meet customer and internal standards and specifications.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position and an advanced degree would be of benefit, but not required. Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and experience in wire harness assembly would be of benefit, but not required. Effective interpersonal skills along with demonstrated oral communication skills are essential for this position. Demonstrated attention to detail, a self-starter needing little direct supervision, problem solving skills along with a high degree of attention to detail are required for this position.
Working Environment
Work requires physical effort divided primarily between periods of standing, walking, and sitting. The work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment. Lifting from 25 to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Other physical demands include crouching, bending over and reaching.
