Hourly Rate: $21 - $26
Location: Washington, D.C. Office
The Accounting Intern will learn and understand the accounting cycle, including month and year-end close processes. Additionally, the summer role will provide an opportunity gain an understanding of the internal control procedures and its impact on accounting processes; gain exposure to 990 tax returns; and day to day accounting processes.
Essential Functions
- Assist with monthly closing process
- Assist with reconciling general ledger accounts, including identifying and suggesting correcting entry
- Provide assistance in drafting accounting manual to include expense reimbursement policy
- Support accounting team with day-to day operations
- Help finalize tax returns
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be rising sophomore, junior or senior
- Excellent Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to collaborate with team members and work independently
- Being open to feedback and willing to learn
- Have completed Intermediate Accounting course
- Knowledge of accounting principles and concepts
- Ability to understand and record financial transactions (i.e., accruals, prepaids)
- Knowledge of bank reconciliations
