Fire/Safety Staff

  

Summary of Duties: Fire / Safety is responsible for the safety of our customers on track and occasionally on other facility surfaces. When accidents happen, Fire / Safety staff coordinate with Race Control and EMS workers to provide for the best possible outcomes.

Reporting Relationship: Fire / Safety Staff work under the direction of the Track Operations Manager and work closely with the Fire / Safety Lead.

Essential Duties:

  • Contribute to a culture based on reputation, respect, integrity, and dependability.
  • Maintain knowledge of race vehicle towing procedures. 
  • Drive an emergency vehicle and perform fire/rescue duties. 
  • Assist in delivering emergency medical care. 
  • Prepare incident reports, including weather conditions and relevant incident information. 
  • Maintain equipment in compliance with fire, safety, and security standards. 
  • Properly utilize all required personal protective equipment.

Additional Duties:

  • Provide Gate/Security coverage.
  • Provide flagging coverage until a replacement can be found when an injured/sick track employee must be treated mid-event.

PIRC personnel work as a supportive and interdependent team. Other duties will be assigned as needed and a willingness to assist other PIRC roles is expected. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Flexible availability during peak season (April – October).
  • Exposure to hot, cold, and inclement weather conditions and high decibel noise on track. 
  • Communication via two-way radio.
  • Extended periods of walking or standing.
  • Extended periods in a stationary position.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals during on- and off-track fires.
  • Potential exposure to bodily fluids while assisting with emergency medical care. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and lift/transfer injured individuals occasionally.
  • Ability to calmly react in challenging situations.
  • Ability to complete hands-on fire extinguisher training.
  • Use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and ability to maintain respirator certification.
  • Maintenance of facial hair to not interfere with respirator use.
Requirements

   

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license. 
  • Basic First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
  • 1 year fire/rescue or EMS experience and familiarity with pump, hose, and hydraulic tool operation. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course completion (EVOC)
  • Emergency Services licenses from SCCA, FIA, ACO, or other professional sanctioning body (EMR, EMT-B, or EMT-P; HAZ-MAT Tech; Firefighter 2, or higher).
Salary Description
$15 per hour
