GENERAL SUMMARY
The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Director of Nursing works with the Medical Director and the ASC
Administrator to ensure consistent quality of patient care while fostering an environment of teamwork for the
outpatient surgery center.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervises nursing staff.
- Partners with the Administrator and others at all levels of the organization to plan and manage the day to
- day operations of the surgery center.
- Determines and maintains adequate nursing staff requirements in relation to patient care standards.
- Assists in recruiting, training and onboarding new nursing staff.
- Establishes and maintains an environment that promotes and supports safe professional practice.
- Communicates with doctors, patients and family members about the patients' health.
- Oversees department budgets.
- Assists in the development of preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each
- patient, as well as developing methods for coordination between surgeons, physicians, nurses, techs and
- administrative team members.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates programs to enrich the recruitment, retention and continuing
- education of the nursing and administrative staff.
- Tracks outcomes, identify areas for improvement and implement plans of correction.
- Ensures that annual competency evaluations and performance reviews are completed in a timely manner.
- Supervises collection of all required records and reports.
- Performs other position related duties as assigned.

- complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the
- Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures;
- maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health
- Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns
- and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the
- Annual Compliance Training.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
- RN license and certification as required by state.
- BLS certification required.
- Specialty CN OR certification and Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) Specialty certification preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years critical care/OR/PACU experience required, 3-4 years clinical urological surgical nursing preferred.
- 3-5 years of management experience required.
