The Associate Philanthropic Consultant is a member of BWF’s Campaigns and Fundraising Strategy (CFS) division and will serve as a team member on client engagements designed to help clients assess and improve their fundraising programs to increase philanthropic support and better fulfill their missions. These projects include, but are not limited to:


  • Development program assessment studies
  • Campaign planning and readiness studies
  • Ongoing philanthropic or campaign counsel
  • Managed services supporting campaign and fundraising operations


The Associate Philanthropic Consultant plays a critical role in engagements collecting and analyzing client data, drafting reports and other deliverables, providing broad levels of client services (including managed services), and supporting the work of comprehensive BWF engagement teams. This role works under the direction of client engagement managers and utilize BWF’s methodology to prepare deliverables. Associate Philanthropic Consultants may also serve as part of an onsite consulting team, helping with report deliveries, interviews, data collection, and other key project priorities.

Requirements
  • Perform client work independently and as a part of a team, including conducting assessment interviews, analyzing and synthesizing client data, drafting reports and other client-facing deliverables, and contributing to client meetings.
  • Collaborate regularly with internal team members and clients to ensure delivery of cohesive and quality work products delivered by deadline.
  • Engage in 8-12 projects, with varying deadlines, scopes, and deliverables at any given time.
  • Meet annual revenue goal by completing quality work efficiently. 
  • As opportunities are provided, contribute to BWF’s industry expertise by writing thought leadership pieces and presenting through company and industry publications, conferences, and events. 
  • Participate in ongoing internal activities as a productive and active member of the company. These may include orientation and ongoing training, company-wide client review meetings, and other skill-building activities.
  • Contribute, when the opportunity presents itself, to BWF sales and marketing efforts through dedicated opportunity discovery and sales process activities. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in philanthropy, preferably with donor engagement and exposure to fundraising in a higher education, healthcare or other nonprofit setting. 
  • Minimum of two years of fundraising experience and/or applicable client/donor/board engagement experience. 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred; comparable work experience considered. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Powerful analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, and solid strategic thinking.
  • Ability to create a strong, positive initial impression and maintain a solid professional credibility.
  • Commitment to an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time. 

Compensation and Benefits Annual base salary range of $65,000 to $90,000 (plus bonus potential) based on qualifications and experience. BWF offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

Work Environment/Conditions

  • This position can be remote or based in our Minneapolis office (locally based employees are expected to maintain a hybrid office present).
  • Position requires ability to work in a stationary position for majority of workday.
  • Continuous use of computer.
  • Frequent communication with team and clients via Zoom and in person.
  • This is an exempt position that requires at least 40 hours of work per week but due to the nature of this role, additional hours are required when deadlines need to be met.
  • Overnight travel to client sites, conferences, or company meetings is sometimes required (up to 20%).
