Nichols Contracting (NCI) is a family-owned and operated Construction and Contracting business headquartered in Columbia, MD with offices in Orlando, Venice, FL, Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Orange City, FL, and a team of 170 employees. NCI is a full-service general contractor focused on providing premier services in all aspects of the construction process, from concept to completion. We manage a broad range of commercial construction projects, including new construction, tenant fit outs, and renovations. Position Summary:
We are looking for a Construction Estimator to join our Florida team! As a Construction Estimator, your main responsibility will be to estimate the work of projects by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. This position required an individual with strong math skills and excellent communication skills to write proposals, cost estimates, and detailed takeoffs on our construction projects.
Essential Functions
· Prepares and estimates budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.
· Evaluates offers to purchase by site requirements, additions, and costing changes.
· Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info.
· Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans.
· Develops bids for construction projects.
· Works closely with architects and other professionals.
· Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff.
· Navigates and understands building codes.
· Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required.
· Monitors construction processes.
· Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction

Qualifications
· Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in construction management, cost estimating, or in a related discipline.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience with a general contractor or electrical contractor preferred.
· Conveying equipment experience, a plus.
· Experience in sales and client relations
· Experience in project cost estimating
· Experience with Sourcewell and RS Means application a plus.
· Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and general project administration.
· Familiarity reading drawings and specifications.
· Computer proficient, including Microsoft Office products.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
· Team player and reliable.
· Interest and passion for the building industry.
· Solution oriented, problem solver with a “hands-on” and team-oriented attitude.
· Ability to multi-task, demanding, and complex projects with competing priorities in a deadline driven environment in a timely manner with accurate results.

· Experience in ProCore a plus.
