JOB SUMMARY 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Flooring Estimator to join our team in a fully remote capacity. The primary focus of this role is performing material quantity take-offs for a variety of flooring types, using on-screen estimating software. This position does not involve labor or cost estimating. However, the candidate needs to understand those concepts to ensure complete material quantities are provided.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform accurate material quantity take-offs for commercial flooring projects, including carpet, vinyl, hardwood, tile, and other flooring types.
  • Utilize industry-specific estimating software such as MeasureSquare, Callidus, or RFMS Measure to perform take-offs and generate reports.
  • Analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to identify flooring requirements and ensure accurate material calculations.
  • Attend regularly scheduled team meetings to report on the status and progress of assigned workloads.
  • Work across several business units, with the ability to pivot focus and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Prepare and track detailed RFI (Request for Information) documents to resolve discrepancies or clarify project details.
  • Maintain detailed records to illustrate changes and adjustments from the original project documents, providing clear and traceable documentation of all updates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers or sales teams, to clarify project requirements as needed.
  • Stay informed on flooring industry trends, products, and best practices for estimation processes.
  • Strong understanding of installation layouts to minimize waste
  • Preparing easy to follow Diagrams and Shop Drawings
  • Prepare report out documents of multiple types for multiple business units

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience performing material quantity take-offs for commercial flooring projects
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as Measure Square, Callidus, or RFMS Measure (experience with multiple platforms is a plus).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings with precision
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage evolving project requirements effectively.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills to handle competing deadlines across multiple business units
  • Proficient in basic office software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word, for reporting and communication purposes.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with a wide range of commercial flooring materials and installation methods
  • Certification or training in commercial flooring estimation or related areas
  • Prior experience in a remote work environment
