As our Controller, you will be a trusted financial leader, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our organization while leading a high-performing team. Your expertise in GAAP, financial planning, and operational leadership will directly contribute to our ability to serve our nonprofit clients effectively.
- Oversee and perform daily financial and accounting operations with responsibility for accounts payable and receivables, client billing, expense reports and reimbursements, payroll, and financial reporting
- Post journal entries and reconcile accounts as part of the monthly general ledger close
- Prepare, analyze, and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financials
- Assist with financial planning and annual budget preparation
- Provide leadership and direction for corporate procurement and risk and liability insurance matters
- Serve as a trusted resource to the leadership team, providing guidance, planning and direction related to financial and accounting matters. Also serves as technical accounting expert to other internal stakeholders
- Direct cash management and reconciliation and manages financial institutions and investment relationships
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to provide information necessary for annual tax filings such as income tax, property taxes, 1099’s, etc.
- Ensure timely tax payments and compliance with local, state, federal, and international reporting requirements.
- Comply with company policies and management of risk
- Consistently provide excellent service to principals, consultants, staff, and clients and observe strict confidentiality in all firm and clients matters and financial measures
- Lead and manage team of direct reports.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
- Minimum 8 years experience required, including managing and motivating a team
- Experience within professional services industries preferred
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of GAAP, accounting operations, financial reporting and analysis, internal controls and audit
- Strong understanding of MS Office Suite including advanced Excel skills required; Salesforce experience preferred
- Excellent judgment in working with clients, other employees, and in representing the Firm
- Understanding of relevant laws pertaining to business operations in a global environment
- Strong individual initiative
- Logical thought process, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and follow instructions from a diverse group of clients, partners, associates, and staff and provide information with courtesy and tact
- Experience supervising, coaching and developing staff

Work Environment
- This position is based in the company’s Minneapolis office. Employees in our Minneapolis office are currently working in a hybrid model, spending days in the office and remotely each week.
- Position requires ability to work in a stationary position for majority of workday.
- Continuous use of computer.
- Frequent communication with team via zoom.
- This is an exempt position that requires at least 40 hour of work per week but due to the nature of this role, additional hours are required when deadlines need to be met.
- Overnight travel to firm meetings is sometimes required (up to 10%).

Compensation and Benefits Annual base salary range of $120,000 to $150,000 plus bonus potential based on qualifications and experience.
