Description

JOB OVERVIEW

 Opened in 2013, the Samuel J. and Ethel LeFrak Center is a LEED-certified 25,000 square foot facility located in the busy and vibrant southeast corner of Prospect Park. The LeFrak Center offers two open-air ice skating rinks, one covered and the other uncovered. In the warmer months, the covered rink converts to roller skating and the uncovered rink converts to a free water playground (“splash pad”). Today, the site also offers bike and boat rentals, a cafe, and multi-purpose rooms that can be used for private events 


The Maintenance Manager, LeFrak Center manages all routine and preventative maintenance at the LeFrak Center. This includes but is not limited to, performing minor repairs, working with staff and vendors on larger renovations, assessing safety and other code regulations, and ensuring that the LeFrak Center is a safe, clean, healthy, and comfortable environment. This position will report to the Director, LeFrak Center, lead a small team, and work in conjunction with representatives of NYC Parks. 



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY JOB OUTCOMES

  • Compile building assessments and conditions reports for the LeFrak Center and surrounding area
  • Work with professional service providers, including electricians, plumbers, and NYC Parks trades representatives, to solicit, evaluate, and negotiate proposals  
  • Manage facility maintenance and construction vendor relationships and service contracts
  • Lead a small team of Maintainers and oversee cleanliness of all areas of the Center, including restrooms, waste management, and others within and surrounding the Center 
  • Ensure safety regulations and compliance requirements are met for designated facilities/buildings 
  • Oversee and track warranties (labor and materials)
  • Create, review, maintain, and coordinate Fire and Safety procedures with NYC Parks
  • Use technology solutions to enter and track work orders
  • Liaise with NYC Parks Engineers and Concessionaire/Operators onsite at the LeFrak Center
  • Support the Center Director in compiling maintenance manuals for all projects
  • Ensure the facilities team exudes strong service excellence standards and provides high-level customer service to internal and external clients

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years experience in Facilities Management, Property/Building Management,  Maintenance & Operations, Construction, Engineering or relative field 
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in facilities management 
  • High School Diploma required, Associate/Bachelors degree preferred
  • Experience with building systems, maintenance, and monitoring (including but not limited to HVAC, electrical + plumbing)

COMPENSATION + BENEFIT DETAILS

  • Job Grade: 5 (Specialist + Project Managers)
  • Annual Salary: $66,300 (annual gross earnings) 
  • FLSA Status: Non Exempt
