As a Nonprofit Technology & Operations Consultant, you will serve as a trusted advisor to nonprofits, guiding them through strategic business process and technology assessments. In this client-facing role, you will evaluate how organizations manage philanthropy operations, assess the effectiveness of their CRM systems and data integrations, and provide expert recommendations to enhance efficiency and impact. Requirements
  • Define engagement scope, deliverables, and expectations while ensuring the successful execution of consulting services in partnership with clients. 
  • Manage large-scale engagements, including coordinating multiple internal and external resources, overseeing budgets, and ensuring alignment across workstreams while maintaining accountability for deliverables and deadlines. 
  • Provide strategic guidance by assessing clients’ business processes and technology ecosystems, synthesizing complex findings, and delivering tailored recommendations that enhance fundraising operations. 
  • Conduct broad-based technology and process assessments, evaluating CRM platforms, data integrations, reporting tools, and system effectiveness while considering organizational readiness for technology adoption or process change. 
  • Demonstrate deep expertise in multiple CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) and provide comparative analysis to recommend the best-fit solutions for clients. 
  • Lead clients through technology selection, system implementations, and process optimization by applying industry best practices and structured engagement management methodologies. 
  • Oversee project risk management, proactively identifying challenges and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure smooth project execution. 
  • Mentor assistant consultants, contributing to internal training efforts, reviewing work products, and fostering knowledge sharing across the division and company.. 
  • Collaborate regularly with internal team members and clients to ensure cohesive, high-quality deliverables that align with project objectives. 
  • Confidently lead client meetings and presentations, synthesizing complex information into clear, actionable insights and maintaining an executive presence throughout engagements. 
  • Meet annual productivity goals by delivering high-quality client work efficiently and identifying opportunities to expand client engagements. 
  • Contribute to company-generated thought leadership by developing written content and engaging in speaking opportunities that highlight expertise in philanthropy operations and technology. 
  • Support business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities, generating leads, negotiating scopes, and cultivating long-term client relationships. 
  • Participate in internal company activities, including orientation and training sessions, client review meetings, and other professional development initiatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience related to fundraising operations (or equivalent experience in other industry) in higher education, healthcare, and/or other nonprofit settings.  
  • Experience working on large scale technology implementation in a non-profit environment. Exposure to a wide variety of fundraising technology and/or CRM platforms is preferred. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. 
  • Analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, and a solid strategic thinking ability for report writing. 
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Comfort selling services and generating leads and clients individually or in partnership with sales team.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; professional certification welcome.

Work Environment/Conditions 

  • This position can be remote or based in our Minneapolis office (locally based consultants are expected to maintain a hybrid office present) 
  • Position requires ability to work in a stationary position for majority of workday 
  • Continuous use of computer 
  • Frequent communication with team and clients via zoom and in person 
  • This is an exempt position that requires at least 40 hour of work per week but due to the nature of this role, additional hours are required when deadlines need to be met 
  • Overnight travel to client sites, conferences or firm meetings is sometimes required (up to 50% of time) 

 

Compensation and Benefits Annual base salary range of $100,000 to $150,000 plus bonus potential based on qualifications and experience.
