Job Title: Pool Lifeguard

Immediate Supervisor: Aquatics Director
Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Primary Responsibilities: A lifeguard is responsible for the general supervision and safety of members/guests in the aquatics facility. Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies. Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
Job Duties:
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the water
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Able to act quickly and appropriately to secure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency
- Present professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Prepare and maintain appropriate activity reports
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
- Able to follow routine verbal and written instructions
- Greets Members, guests and directs guests to a locker if needed.
- Uniform is to be neat clean and worn at all times while on duty.
- Addresses the Member by his surname and makes him feel comfortable at his Club. It's important to be as helpful as possible and to assist Members and their guests with their needs
- Answering pool phone, ensures that members and guests sign in.
- Picking up any pool toys left out.
- Hours of operation may vary due to commitments.
- Receives specific written or oral instructions from the immediate supervisor or higher authority who is available for advice and guidance.
- Any other such duties as may be assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- 2+ years' lifeguard experience preferred
- Ability to pass a pre-employment practical skills test in the water
- Ability to work on weekends and evenings
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- 6 months to 1-year experience directly related to the responsibilities specified
- Highly-skilled in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
- Strong knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedure
- Ability to accurately prepare routine administrative paperwork
- Excellent customer service skills
