Description
Job Summary:
The primary duty of a costing specialist is to gather financial data (e.g., inventory purchases, labor costs) and analyze it to ensure proper pricing on all goods manufactured. Includes estimating production costs and tracking changes in regular costs (e.g., due to new products and new processes). Other duties may be assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in accounting or costing experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
- Costing/Accounting background
Responsibilities:
- Determine product costs and maintain costs in our system.
- Create all bills of materials and compile total costs including raw materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
- Provide customer service with custom design price quote estimates and description sheets with quote specifications.
- Collaborate with our marketing staff to produce product line information lists and costing reports for all catalogs.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Skills & Abilities:
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
- Effective communication/interpersonal skills with supervisors, coworkers, and customers
- Excellent computer skills
- Proficient in Excel (experience with formulas)
- Ability to communicate (read, write, speak) in English
- Ability to use various technology: Zoom, Slack, phone, computer systems, 10-key, etc
- Attention to detail
- Strong business acumen and analytical skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Strong customer service orientation
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift objects of 15 lbs. (Marginal function: 20 lbs.)
- Visual acuity: able to read charts, graphs, computer monitor, forms
Work Environment:
- General office environment with standard office equipment
- Exposure to varying office temperatures and distractions
