Job Summary

Protects and keeps safe all IHOPKC staff, visitors, properties and assets. To maintain and where necessary, enforce IHOPKC policies as set out by leadership.  To be a reassuring presence that IHOPKC provides a safe environment to be in.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Maintain a visible reassuring presence to all who are on IHOPKC property
• Enforce, where necessary, IHOPKC policy
• Enforce, where necessary, civil laws
• Helpfully interact with staff and visitors to maintain safety
• Respond to service calls promptly and professionally
• Operate a security vehicle
• Liaise with the 3 Emergency Services as required
• To respond to situations with the appropriate use of force continuum

Other Responsibilities

• Reports to and performs such duties as are required by Head of Security
• To detain and arrest, when necessary, individuals who have violated civil or policy rules
• To work with all departments of IHOPKC to assist them

Qualifications

• Must be over 21 years of age
• Must not have any misdemeanor or felony record, except minor traffic infringements
• If ex-military, must have a clean DD214
• Must have a driving license
• Must have the ability to lift 50lbs if necessary
• Must be able to obtain a Class A Armed Security officer’s license from KCMOPD and GVPD
• Has to pass Taser and Pepper Spray certification
• Has to be reliable, honest, a good listener, a de-escalator, and have the understanding of working as a Security officer at IHOPKC
• Has to be able to undertake 12 hour shifts which include standing, sitting, and walking
• Has to be able to go ‘hands-on’ with difficult people when necessary
• Previous experience preferred
