Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities related to the Shipping & Receiving Department, as well as providing leadership and direction for day-to-day operations.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and coordinate activities of team associates to include picking, packing, inventory counts, and preparing goods for delivery and shipment.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow
  • Assign duties and audit counts, shipments, and inventories
  • Ensure correct and timely shipments to customers, per the customer’s preferred delivery method
  • Identify department needs, including box stock, tools, and supplies
  • Coordinate training for new associates and continued development for existing associates
  • Manage the receiving process and ensure proper procedures are used to control for shortages
  • Verify all received goods counts and accuracy through audits
  • Ensures timely and accurate input of all shipments, receipts, freight information, and inventory into the Great Plains system
  • Communicate and collaborate with team members and other department supervisors effectively to ensure success of the business
  • Ensure team members follow appropriate safety protocols at all times
  • Oversee all personnel within department, to include timecard management, vacation scheduling, disciplinary actions, etc. 
  • Keep department and work areas clean and organized, following the 5S principles

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. 
  • Work involves standing, walking, and lifting during shift schedule.
  • Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable or hazardous.
  • Noise level is normal for a manufacturing environment.


Requirements

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma/GED required AND 2-5 years direct or related work experience
  • 2-5 years supervisory experience required
  • Intermediate reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. 
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory controls
  • Intermediate computer skills, to include Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively problem solve
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process, as it relates to shipping, receiving, and inventory
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers at all levels of business
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to sit/stand/walk throughout the shift as required
