Overview:
Located in the historic iron range mining region of northeastern Minnesota, NewRange is a 50:50 joint venture of subsidiaries of Teck American Inc. (Teck) and PolyMet Mining Corp. (Glencore) that is advancing two major copper-nickel-platinum-palladium deposits, NorthMet and Mesaba. Project activities range from readying the feasibility stage NorthMet project for a production decision pending clearance of mine permits to advancing the nearby Mesaba project to pre-feasibility studies and permitting. NewRange is committed to unlocking a new domestic supply chain of critical metals for the transition to a low-carbon economy and positioning Minnesota as a world leader in sustainable mineral resource development.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on the common values on health, safety, environment, and communities shared by the asset owners (Teck and Glencore).
- Assist with environmental sampling field work.
- Utilize GIS and GPS tools to collect field data.
- Assist in compliance monitoring events and recordkeeping.
- Maintain trails to remote sampling locations.
- Data management and data entry utilizing spreadsheets.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Enrolled in college pursuing a degree in environmental, chemical, or civil engineering; an earth sciences discipline (chemistry, biology, geology, natural resources); or a related scientific degree.
- Must be a motivated, self-starter, with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Capable of working indoors and outdoors, safely maneuvering conditions such as open water, inclement weather, insects, and wildlife, and hazards such as mobile equipment.
- Acceptable driving record with a valid driver’s license.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Physical Demands of the Role:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, including walking up and down stairs and across uneven surfaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, and squat, occasionally in uncomfortable spaces.
