Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Data Scientist to join our team and play a pivotal part in transforming complex data into actionable insights. The Sr. Data Scientist will report to the Senior Manager of Data Science and BI at Healthrise and drive the development of advanced analytics, machine learning models, and data-driven solutions that support key business initiatives.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in machine learning, statistical modeling, and programming languages such as SQL and python. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business leaders, data engineers, and clients, to ensure that data science solutions align with business needs. Additionally, this role requires the ability to mentor other team members, ensure best practices in model development and deployment, and help foster a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.
Healthrise operates in the Microsoft technology stack/Azure services and Databricks for development work. We leverage an Agile/Scrum development process.
Duties and Responsibilities
Advanced Data Analysis and Model Development:
- Utilize Python, SQL and other advanced analytical tools to conduct data validation, transformation, and analysis. Develop and implement predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical techniques to drive actionable business insights, with minimal guidance.
Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:
- Effectively translate complex analytical findings into clear, impactful insights for both technical and non-technical audiences. Participate in client discussions, presentations, and requirement-gathering sessions to ensure alignment between data science initiatives and business needs.
Visualization and Business Intelligence Support:
- Create complex visualizations for presentations and/or mockups, in collaboration with the BI team. Develop reporting data views for handoff and use in BI dashboard reporting.
Project Management and Documentation:
- Lead and contribute to project planning by identifying project requirements, proposing effective solutions, establishing timelines for completion, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Prepare and present reports, briefs, and strategic updates to stakeholders.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other data scientists, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing. Ensure best practices in model validation, performance monitoring, and reproducibility are followed. Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and innovation, staying up to date with emerging trends in data science and AI.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, data science, statistics, computer science, or other relevant fields. Advanced degrees or certifications in healthcare analytics, business intelligence, or data science are a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis or data science
- Expert in using SQL for querying databases to extract, transform, and analyze data
- Expert in using Python to manipulate, analyze, and model data
- Proficient in predictive modeling, machine learning, and other statistical techniques
- Experience with data workflows including data discovery, ingestion, filtering, transformation, model creation, model deployment
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting complex data findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and deliver innovative solutions
- High degree of self-motivation, adaptability, and collaborative spirit, with an ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Experience working with unstructured text data, GenAI, LLMs a plus
- Experience working with Databricks a plus
- Experience working in healthcare/Epic EMR a plus
