Description

George School, a Quaker boarding/day grades 9-12 college preparatory school located in Newtown, Bucks County, PA has an opening for a part-time Custodian.  


Responsibilities: 

  • Clean and disinfect assigned areas (i.e., dormitories, academic buildings classrooms, offices, gymnasiums, swimming pool, locker rooms, restrooms, stairwells, corridors, lounges, campus housing, etc.).
  • Follow all aspects of the Department standard operating procedures (i.e., 10 step cleaning process, daily call outs, safety protocols, etc.)
  • Perform functions associated with floor care and carpet care (i.e., shampooing, spot cleaning carpets, refinishing, burnishing, vacuuming, and stripping floors, etc.).  Operate floor care equipment.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and use supplies to complete tasks. Utilize approved cleaning and disinfecting solutions per procedure and restock housekeeping closets with other needed supplies which are to be properly labeled and secured in required areas. 
  • Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report all repairs as needed.
  • Handle the removal of trash & recycling on campus.
  • Move extensively up or down stairwells and/or to various buildings on campus (relocation of equipment, cleaning supplies, or other items).
  • Set up and break down tables, chairs and linen as related to meetings and special event functions which may require moving items from building to building on campus.
  • Assist in moving and disposal of furniture on campus.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2-5 years of custodial operations experience preferred
  • Ability to follow oral, written instructions and directions.
  • Possess a valid and current driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform duties in the event of an emergency.
  • Ability to work holidays and special events when needed.
  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, stoop, crawl, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Must be able to work indoors or outdoors.
