Description
The Porter/Detailer is responsible for assisting in the smooth operation of a collision center by ensuring that vehicles are properly cleaned, detailed, and prepared for delivery to customers. This position also involves performing general yard duties, moving vehicles, and supporting technicians and service advisors in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the shop.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vehicle Detailing:
- Wash, wax, vacuum, and detail vehicles inside and out to meet dealership standards before delivery to customers.
- Ensure all vehicles are cleaned to a high standard, paying attention to both exterior and interior surfaces.
- Apply protective treatments to paint and interiors when necessary.
Vehicle Handling and Transport:
- Safely drive and park vehicles in designated areas, ensuring proper parking, security, and organization in the lot.
- Move vehicles from one location to another within the collision center, assisting technicians and service advisors as needed.
- Ensure that vehicles are properly tagged and documented for work being performed.
Shop Maintenance:
- Assist in keeping the shop, office, and customer areas clean and organized.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties, including taking out trash, organizing tools, and ensuring the premises are clean and tidy.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and order of vehicle inventory, ensuring all vehicles are properly stored.
Miscellaneous Duties:
- Assist with inventory management by organizing parts, supplies, and tools as needed.
- Perform light maintenance tasks, such as checking fluid levels or inflating tires.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a dealership, body shop, or similar environment is a plus but not required.
- Experience with vehicle washing, detailing, or valet services is beneficial.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality of work.
- Ability to handle vehicles safely and responsibly.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle interior/exterior care and detailing products.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions.
- Good organizational skills and ability to maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30-50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions when performing outside tasks.
Work Environment:
- Collision center/auto repair shop environment with exposure to various mechanical equipment and vehicles.
- May involve working in both indoor and outdoor settings.
