HOMEBOUND DELIVERY DRIVER
Description

JOB SUMMARY: Performs the duties required for the timely delivery of meals and services to

home meal recipients. This client-facing role also provides regular social contact during delivery

drivers for homebound seniors who may be lonely and/or isolated. The driver must demonstrate

consistent and appropriate social contact and customer service with clients during delivery visits

and report changes and feedback to the Social Services department.

5:30am – 4:00pm/ Mon, Tue – Thur, Fri 

Off on Wednesdays

Pay Rate: $19.00 - $20.00


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Loads and delivers meals to participants in an assigned area daily, Monday through

Friday, in a timely and safe manner. Maintains all perishable food items at 40°F or lower

temperature at all times. Packs coolers with adequate amounts of ice.

2. Provides regular and appropriate social contact with participants during delivery. This

includes putting meals into refrigerators/freezers as requested,

3. Provide daily status updates through the mobile change on condition application based on

general observations on client health, wellness, dietary, or environmental changes must

be submitted immediately after each client meal delivery, in accordance with training

provided. It also may include assisting clients with small needs such as changing a light

bulb, moving smaller items up to 50 pounds, or similar brief tasks.

4. Observes and informally assess participants as to their obvious service needs. Reports

client-related problems to the Home Services Manager or Case Manager/Worker

immediately. After finishing the route follow up and provide summary feedback to the

designated Social Services representative

5. Operates vehicle in a safe and lawful manner.

6. Cleans and maintains Agency vehicle (inside and outside) weekly. Cleans vehicle of

debris and food spills daily. Reports any vehicle problems to Driver’s Supervisor. Water,

fluids, seat belts, tires and lights must be checked daily before starting vehicle.

7. Tests temperature and documents all undelivered foods at end of day. Discards unsafe

foods and returns “safe” foods to proper storage area.

8. Updates directions for client delivery by route. Completes and submits Vehicle Operating

Record to Home Service daily.

9. Returns all items/equipment to proper storage area daily.

10. Hands out memos, donation envelopes and notices/policies as needed.

11. Follows prescribed safety rules and procedures. Assists department in its goal to provide

a safe work environment by communicating problems and suggestions for safe operation.

12. Attends and participates in all mandatory training sessions and meetings as prescribed by

the Supervisor of Drivers and/or administrative personnel.

13. Follows additional guidelines/procedures as necessitated by department standards and

performs other related duties as assigned in order to ensure the successful delivery of home deliver meals.

14. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:-

 Must possess a valid California Driver's License and a current and acceptable DMV driving record/printout.

- Must be at least 21 years of age.- Must be able to work independently and efficiently.

- Strong customer service mindset and ability to interact comfortably with clients and demonstrate interest in client well-being.

- Display patience, understanding and a willingness to assist home services clientele.

- Must possess the sensitivity and awareness of the needs of homebound persons of all socioeconomic backgrounds.

- Must possess characteristics of courtesy, honesty, and integrity to meet the company's expectations of quality.

- Efficient in speaking, reading and writing in English; bi-lingual is a desired

- Must have basic computer knowledge.

- Employment is contingent upon passing post-offer screening and physical, including drug screen.
