Position Summary:
Provides direct supervision of children in Child Watch by providing all children with a safe, friendly and continuous activity packed atmosphere based on the mission of the Y and to communicate effectively with parents, fellow Child Watch staff and Y staff.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises the children, Child Watch room, and all activities.
- Shows intentional interaction with children in the Child Watch area.
- Maintains positive relations and communication with parents.
- Maintains equipment and toy safety and cleanliness.
- Maintains required program records.
- Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Performs other duties for the betterment of the Child Watch as needed or directed.
Monday-Friday 8:00am-10:00am, 4:30pm-6:30pm.

YMCA Usage - Facility usage is free for all employees. Immediate family members may use the YMCA at a discounted monthly price. Immediate family members are as follows: spouse, domestic partner, dependent children and other dependents living within the same household.
Program Fees-Except for certain exceptions, program fees will be reduced by 25% for all employees and their immediate family. * While not working, an employee of the Y can use the child watch service for free up to a 2 hour daily limit. While working, child watch is free and unlimited.

Qualifications:
- Meets educational and experience qualifications established by the Mattoon Area Family YMCA.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
- Previous experience with diverse populations.
- Completion of all required staff safety trainings.
Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
Occasional push/pull/carry/lift up to 25 lbs.
Ability to respond to emergency situations.
