Position Summary
Responsible for all aspects of Hospital Services and Family Services management, including strategic planning, systems implementation, operational oversight, budget management and regulatory compliance. The role focuses on identifying and implementing strategic objectives to support donation processes within LOPA’s DSA hospitals, inclusive of establishing and maintaining key hospital relationships, ensuring collaborative support of potential donor families and maintaining donation potential. Supports and fosters the mission of the organization and its commitment to tissue and organ donation.
Essential Functions
- Lead the development and execution of departmental strategy which aligns with and supports the Agency strategic plan.
- Champion of the Agency’s vision, strategy and roadmap that lead assigned team(s) and business partners in effective execution.
- Lead initiatives to identify, evaluate, and implement processes to achieve departmental goals, including authorization and referral metrics.
- Maintains accurate and up to date hospital and authorization statistics, reviewing referral and approach activity to ensure quality of practice and level of service in relationship to expected goals.
- Responsible for administrative oversight, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of the Senior Regional Directors and Hospital and Family Services department team, including, but not limited to, all aspects of the Hospital Services and Family Services departments, including strategic planning, systems implementation, budget management, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop relationships with key hospital leadership to develop cultures of donation within DSA hospitals, and ensure LOPA provides the opportunity for donation to all potential donor families.
- Oversees design and implementation of standardized processes for continual evaluation of departmental performance. This includes on-site observation, coaching and case review.
- Provides real-time guidance and support to Hospital and Family Services departmental leadership regarding authorization issues or donor management and OR access issues.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable regulatory/accrediting agencies/entities.
- Oversees the development, revision, and maintenance of policies and procedures for assigned department(s), ensuring compliance of processes with all applicable laws.
- Evaluates performance of direct reports on a scheduled basis (as defined by HR) and provides appropriate feedback.
- Ensures employee compliance with all HR policies and procedures.
- Works with HR in the development, growth and performance management of assigned staff.
- Coaches/councils assigned employees as needed.
- Utilizes available data to assess employee performance.
- Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to assure mutual understanding of desired results.
- The VP of HS & FS actively fosters an organizational culture that is based on collaboration, support, and constructive feedback.
- Works with department managers and HR in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of applicants for department, including job description development and maintenance.

Role Progression
This role may be eligible for progression to a C-level position if one is made available.
Work Environment
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, airborne illnesses, hazardous materials, pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
- May, at times, have exposure to blood, packaged organs and tissues for transplant and/or research in a hospital setting or while in the office.
- Possible mental and visual fatigue associated with detailed work.
- This position requires travel, as needed.

Work Hours
Full time, salaried position. Typical work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm with flex time available at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The role involves occasional site visits to other regional offices and hospitals around the state.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (B.S.N.), Healthcare Administration, or a related clinical or health leadership field required. Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., MHA, MPH, MBA) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, with at least 5 years in a senior management or director-level role.
- Extensive experience in organ procurement, transplant services, or hospital operations preferred.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams, managing complex initiatives, and driving strategic outcomes in a regulated healthcare environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, with advanced skills in email and word processing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite software.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans that enhance clinical operations, family support services, and hospital partnerships.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, donation authorization processes, and compliance standards.
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, managing cross-functional initiatives, and optimizing performance through data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present complex information to diverse audiences, including hospital leadership, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to listen to and balance, negotiate and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
