The Role: The Accounts Receivable Specialist works with the CFO and other staff to review financials and perform month end close.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage Accounts Receivable for various contracts
- Record and apply Payments
- Work with staff and Department of Children and Family Services on open items
- Record contributions revenue
- Grant reporting
- Record/Reconcile Investment Activity
- Assist with month end and year end close
- Assist with outside accounting firm to prepare for the audit.
- Work with Business Managers at each site to ensure timely reporting on home budgets
- Import costs derived from Home Accounts into Financial Edge
- Payroll Back up
- Work with Human Resources to process payroll via 3rd party payroll vendor.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree, preferably in accounting or finance related field with one to two years professional experience including at least one year of financial management experience.
- Knowledge and experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge, and Excel.
- Knowledge of non-profit finance and accounting practices, including government contracts, grants management and financial reporting,
- Ability to translate financial concepts to – and to effectively collaborate with — programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- A multitasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and customer service are important
- Ability to pass DCFS, required criminal background check including CANTS/SACWIS and SORS. Ability to provide required DCFS Medical Report/TB test, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
