Description


Job purpose


Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to set-up and/or weld out structural forms parts by performing the following duties.


Duties and responsibilities


  • Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine equipment, plan layout, set-up and welding.
  • Perform necessary laying out, cutting, bending, forming and assembly operations using fixtures and positioners in preparation for welding.
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to specifications. 
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding. 
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together. 
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure. 
  • Operate overhead crane and/or forklift as needed.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.  
  • Performs any related duties as required or assigned.


Requirements

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience doing set-up welds and ability to pass a 2G weld test.
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.).
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, welding process specifications and welding symbols.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, welding process specifications and welding symbols.
  • Knowledgeable of different kinds of metal and their properties.
  • Experience operating a forklift and/or overhead crane preferred.
  • Ability to commit to flexible schedule and prompt arrival for shifts.
