POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for clinic patients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status). Clinical management is conducted in collaboration with other health care team members, and a protocol with a licensed medical doctor establishes the scope of practice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Leadership

• Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
• Keeps up to date with medical developments, treatment, and medication.

Operational Excellence

• Responds to problems of infant, children, and adolescent patients by referring to their history, carrying out diagnosis, treatment, counseling and referral, where necessary.
• Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
• Explains procedures or prescribed treatments to patients and their parents and/or guardians.

Collaboration and Reporting

• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
• Facilitates staff, patient, and family decision making by providing educational tools and patient engagement.

Compliance

• Always maintain confidentiality and impartiality.
• Follows and promotes safeguards for the organization and patients’ data and security needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
• Current Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) Licensure.
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification in Family Medicine, preferred.
• Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience in Pediatrics, preferred.
