Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
Lead all department activity, including the procurement, sales, operations, and delivery of products and services in propane, lubricants, refined fuels, and stations. Lead employees to aggressively set and support sales and service goals. This position will manage over 16 million gallons of refined fuel and 12 million gallons of propane for a newly merged entity, formerly Central Region Cooperative and United Farmers Cooperative.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage profit and loss of division. Oversee costs of operations and develop strategies to reduce costs when possible.
- Supervise sales, service, and delivery staff and assist when needed in personnel, operations, and planning.
- Build an aggressive sales culture in tandem with operations support to provide superior service to customers.
- Lead business development, strategic planning, and marketing of products and services with management and sales teams.
- Develop innovating pricing and marketing programs that maintain company profitability.
- Foster strong relationships with and provide consultation to energy consumers.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers in favor of the company’s growth. Purchase all products and keep a maintain a robust inventory needed to service customers.
- Assess internal and external policies related to oversight and operations and develop new policies as appropriate.
- Make recommendations to leadership team on structure, process, and personnel, needed to accommodate growth objective.
- Assure company is in compliance with regulatory requirements, including all state and federal safety regulations. Work with HR and Safety when necessary.
- Develop, execute, and create accountabilities that manage the company’s risk of doing business within the board’s pre-established guidelines.
- Work with Finance/Accounting to prepare annual operating budget for the energy department. Seek board of director approval.
- Prepare capital expenditure requests based on long-term investment needs of the energy department.
- Manage, evaluate, and provide professional development opportunities for employees.
- Work collaboratively with administrative staff to achieve company-wide initiatives, including, profitability, cross-selling, communications, staffing, and safety.
- Adhere to company credit policy.
- Actively participate in trade-association groups in the best interest of the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, or related field.
- 5+ years related experience or equivalent.
- 2-5 years in energy sales or marketing.
- Knowledge of agriculture business and cooperative structure.
- Knowledge of pricing, purchasing, and distribution of energy products.
- Management experience of individuals and teams.
- Highly developed and demonstrated teamwork skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally.
- Ability to lead in an environment of change.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years in progressively responsible management roles.
Salary Description
$140,000 - $185,000 per year
