Senior Advancement Officer

Position Summary:

The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation seeks a highly motivated and experienced development professional to help lead and grow both individual and institutional fundraising efforts. The Senior Advancement Officer will manage a portfolio of mid- to high-level donors and sponsors—including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government funders—with a focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts of $2,500 and above. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement and working closely with the CEO, this role plays a critical part in advancing the Foundation’s comprehensive fundraising strategy through thoughtful portfolio management and targeted support for donor-related events and engagement opportunities.


Essential Functions:

Individual and Institutional Portfolio Management (85%):

  • Manage a dynamic portfolio of approximately 100–125 donors and prospects, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government entities, with a focus on securing gifts of $2,500+
  • Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with both individual and institutional donors to grow immediate, long-term, and planned gifts
  • Serve as a primary frontline fundraiser alongside the CEO and VP of Advancement, leading in-person meetings, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies
  • Develop tailored engagement and giving plans for each donor or prospect based on their relationship history, philanthropic interests, and giving capacity
  • Identify alignment between donor priorities and FLWF programming, developing proposals and submitting applications where appropriate (e.g., for grants, sponsorships, or restricted gifts)
  • Maintain and grow existing institutional partnerships and oversee fulfillment of recognition, sponsorship, and reporting obligations
  • In partnership with the VP of Advancement and Marketing, contribute to the maintenance of case for support materials and any necessary fundraising campaign collateral
  • Track and report on solicitation progress, moves management strategies, and leadership engagement needs
  • Participate in regular portfolio and pipeline review meetings to ensure effective moves management and long-term donor engagement strategy

Event Support, Metrics, and Reporting (15%) 

  • Document and maintain clear and timely records and call reports to track contacts, pledges, donations, and special notes; assist in the maintenance of an accurate donor management database (Salesforce) 
  • Maintain timely, accurate, and detailed records of all donor interactions, proposals, pledges, and stewardship activities in Salesforce CRM
  • Support donor engagement through strategic participation in events and cultivation opportunities
  • Provide updates and reporting to support fundraising forecasting, benchmarking, and performance analysis
  • Contribute to the development of advancement strategies through cross-functional collaboration with program, marketing, and leadership teams

This position is full time with a salary of $90,000/year (commensurate with experience) and comprehensive benefits including a paid time-off package. The Foundation pays up to 90% of monthly health-care premiums and enrolls all regular full-time employees into our life insurance, and short and long-term disability policies at no cost to employees.

Requirements

Job/Position Skills:

Nonprofit experience and a successful track record in fundraising program management

Ability to work collaboratively and with strong interpersonal skills

Adherence to deadlines, strong organizational and time management skills

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

Experience in team-based, cross-functional work environments with effective and respectful communication

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of successful frontline nonprofit fundraising experience
  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred
  • Proven track record and knowledge base in identifying, cultivating/stewarding, soliciting, and closing individual and institutional gifts, grants, and sponsorship
  • Experience working with CRM databases, preferably Salesforce
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
