Graphic Pre-Press Technician II
Description

  

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS:

  

· Accurately follow work instructions for generating production files for screen printing, metal photo and fabrication.

· Emailing art proofs to customers.

· Prepare files for outsourced parts per work instructions.

· Preflight and troubleshoot customer digital files, load fonts, inspect graphics, and make color separations (4 color process and spot colors), familiar with traps and bleeds.

  • Output files to image setter; set line screens, resolution, and other press-specific settings.
  • Prepare files for output to  film & digital devices.

· Create / edit work instructions as required.

· Maintain inventory & order supplies for graphic department.

  • Operate and assist in  maintenance of graphics prepress equipment.

· Occasionally working with CSR’s to discuss prints and graphics.

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  

· High school degree, GED, or equivalent.

· Graphics or Art related Degree, or related experience. 

· Electronics prepress degree or two years on the job experience.

· Experience with digital and or screen printing, Acrobat, InDesign,  Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RIP software, EPICOR, Corel Draw (not a requisite but a plus).

· Comprehensive knowledge Adobe Illustrator – CC preferred.

· Experience with Excel & Word.


EXPERIENCE

  

· Understanding of the manufacturing process & needs of other departments, including Prepress experience.

· Understand Positive vs Negative film and the difference between first and second surface printing.

· Ability to manipulate and create own graphics for processes.

· Understanding of proper documentation and traceability.

· Ability to read and understand Job Traveler, Art Traveler, and ISO Procedure Manual.

  • Receive files electronically & maintain operating system.

· Review jobs for correct processes & information.

· Generate files for fabrication – laser, turret, steel rule die, Datron.

· Navigate EPICOR to verify process information, material, job location and part history.

SKILLS

  

· Near Vision or ability to see details at close range (20/20 corrective vision). 

· Visual Color Discrimination or ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.

· Deductive Reasoning or ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

· Problem Sensitivity or ability to recognize there is a problem. 

· Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

· Able to communicate with Supervisors, Peers or Subordinates by phone, email or in person.

· Mechanical Ability.

· Self - motivated, customer focused (external & internal customers).

· Team player as well as being able to work independently.

· Accountable and able to make sound judgement and decisions.
