The Village is proud to offer residents the opportunity to play an active role in local government through a variety of committees, commissions and boards. These groups are essential to our community, providing thoughtful input, informed perspectives, and valuable recommendations that help guide the Village. Participation ensures that the voices of our residents are heard and reflected in the decisions that shape our shared future. Whether offering insights on historic preservation, sustainability, public planning, or cultural enrichment, each board and commission contributes meaningfully to the vitality of Lemont. We encourage residents to attend public meetings, share their ideas, and consider serving as members of the committee. Your involvement makes a difference and helps ensure that Lemont continues to thrive as a welcoming, vibrant, and forward-thinking community. 

To be considered for a Village of Lemont committee, commission, or board, individuals must meet the following qualifications:

Requirements


  • Must be a current resident of the Village of Lemont.
  • Willing to serve a 4-year term aligned with the Village’s election cycle.
  • Commit to attending at least 75% of scheduled meetings annually.
  • Uphold the Village’s Code of Conduct and ethical policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality when required.
  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Avoid roles or relationships that create significant conflicts of interest.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to public service and active community involvement.
  • Work constructively and respectfully with fellow members, Village staff, and the public.
  • Attend required training sessions (e.g., FOIA, Open Meetings Act) as applicable.
  • Consent to a background check as part of the selection process.
