Hartzell Air Movement is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead and support our maintenance department. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll ensure our equipment, systems, and facilities are operating safely and efficiently while driving continuous improvement across our operations.
Basic Function:
This role supports our Hartzell Air Movement team by monitoring and guiding all activities within the maintenance department. The Maintenance Supervisor installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in an industrial setting. This position also plays a key leadership role in safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise and train maintenance technicians, providing daily guidance and support.
- Ensure 100% compliance with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures and address all environmental and safety concerns.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Schedule and conduct all required safety training.
- Develop and grow team capabilities by mentoring current employees and helping attract new talent.
- Set performance expectations and conduct performance reviews; manage coaching and disciplinary actions with HR and management support.
- Initiate purchase orders for parts, tools, and machinery.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance program.
- Install and maintain pipe systems, hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, and related components.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery and equipment.
- Lubricate and clean mechanical parts such as shafts, bearings, and gears.
- Operate metalworking tools (lathe, drill press, grinder) to fabricate or repair parts.
- Use welding and cutting equipment to join or modify metal components.
- Maintain the physical structure of multiple facilities.
- Inspect, test, and repair company vehicles and power tools.
- Build and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other structures.
- Run new electrical wiring and conduit; troubleshoot and repair electrical and PLC systems.
- Oversee steam and boiler systems.
- Collaborate with managers, production supervisors, and peers to support operations.
- Assist co-workers with repairs and general maintenance tasks.
- Replace defective lighting in machines and buildings.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial setting; supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to frequently lift 25–60 lbs and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform tasks requiring close, distant, and color vision.
- Must be dependable and available for overtime as needed.
- Valid driver’s license required.
