SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant provides accounting expertise to the Financial Services department through performing analytics and preparing and reviewing various reconciliations. The person in this role will work closely with the Foundation’s banking and investment partners and perform ongoing due diligence to ensure the financial integrity of the Foundation. The person in this role must possess strong GAAP accounting skills, sharp analytical skills, and independent judgement. This person must also be a clear communicator with the ability to effectively present information and respond to internal and external customer needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Primary responsibility for preparation and/or review of complicated reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards and regulations
- Monitor liquidity and collaborate with university partners on cash flow forecasts
- Prepare and review items for audit and tax return reporting
- Primary responsibility for investment accounting; entries, reconciliation, reporting
- Manage timely completion of monthly, quarterly, annual financial reporting
- Support Accountant(s) with triage requests for research and ad-hoc reporting
- Support Accountant(s) with preparation and review of journal entries
- Project team involvement; collaborating directly with vendors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with establishment and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks
- Ability to perform research and document conclusions
- Provide excellent customer service

COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of professional accounting experience
- CPA license
- Strong core accounting skills
- Investment knowledge
- Demonstrated capability in the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and the interpretation of financial data
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, and the ability to adapt to new processes and systems
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools
- Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities
- Ability to interpret and present data to varied audiences
