PRN Pharmacist
Description

 


Responsible for providing and managing pharmacy services in accordance with the requirements set forth by the federal, state, and local laws and the polices of San José Clinic in the absence of the PIC. Reports to the PIC and the Chief Clinical Officer.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILILTIES:

· Dispense prescriptions in compliance with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) and controlled drugs according to set standards by the TSBP.

· Order all drugs and biological products (vaccines and insulin); store them according to requirements.

· Keep required license current and always displayed in pharmacy.

· Remove all outdated drugs from pharmacy shelves.

· Maintain formulary in consultation with volunteer providers. Formulary to include purchased drugs, drug samples in-stock, and pharmaceutical assistance program drugs. Ensure providers know how to access all formulary information and understanding processing procedures to add to formulary.

· Integrate RX Assist Plus program and sample inventory more seamlessly with operations of pharmacy to prioritize in-kind donations over purchased medicines.

· Update and ensure adherence to Pharmacy Policy and Procedure Manual.

· Comply with Texas State Board of Pharmacy requirements for drug utilization review, Patient Medication Education Program, and patient-pharmacist drug counseling.

· Resolve problems in Pharmacy and ensures compliance with regulations and standards.

· Supervises pharmacy technicians and pharmacy coordinator in the absence of Pharmacist in Charge.

· Delivery of pharmacy care in accordance with the Catholic Moral and Ethical Directives.

· Follows all HIPAA and OSHA guidelines and regulations, including assisting HIPAA and OSHA Officers in ensuring compliance.

· Always maintains confidentiality of patient information/records.

· Maintains established San José Clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.

· Implements job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the San José Clinic Mission and Code of Conduct and is supportive of San José Clinic cultural diversity objectives.

· Performs other duties as assigned.



Requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Must have a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctorate from an accredited School of Pharmacy or foreign equivalency and a current Texas License.

· Must have a minimum of two years' experience as a staff pharmacist, preferably in a Class A setting.

· Can demonstrate excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking, and effective use of time. Also, able to handle and complete multiple tasks or projects with multiple deadlines.

· Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with public and all levels of the organization.

· Ability to operate computer, and copier fax.

· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, practice management system software applications, and electronic medical records.

· Can demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

· Can demonstrate effective customer relation skills, working with diverse populations, often in stressful fast paced environments.

· Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

· Ability to sit, stand, bend and stoop for (long) periods of time.

· Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally/ frequently.
