Foxdale was founded in 1985 by members of the State College Friends Meeting and is founded on the values of treating all with dignity and respect. Foxdale Village includes 57 apartments and 148 cottages and offers a range of health services with 46 beds in skilled nursing for short and long-term care, two memory care neighborhoods, and 55 beds in personal care, all with private accommodations. We currently have an opportunity for a new Registered Nurse (RN) to join our personal care team.
We are hiring for Full-Time, Part-Time, and PRN positions!
Full-Time position and expected work 36 hours per week (7pm-730am) every third weekend, and every other holiday.
RN Job Summary:
Responsible for participating in delivery and development of patient care plans. This includes creating effective schedules for residents and staff, effective communication, monitoring care, and ensuring resident and staff safety. Will demonstrate clinical competence in nursing procedures.

Essential Job Functions:
- Participate in the development, review, and update of an individualized interdisciplinary care plan for each resident. Plan and deliver individualized care utilizing the primary caregiver approach.
- Utilize the nursing process.
- Assign work schedules according to the needs of the residents and staff members’ abilities.
- Communicate effectively through written and non-written methods to assure continuity of care and efficiency in work responsibilities.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in use of specialized equipment and implementation of nursing care procedures.
- Supervise, mentor, train and orient licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants. Instruct as needed in order to ensure safe and competent care.
- Complete and administer individual development plans within established deadlines and according to Foxdale’s performance management program guidelines.
- Initiate disciplinary action, as appropriate, and in collaboration with Human Resources as warranted.
- Develop procedures and standards of care relative to resident care and use of specialized equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge and competency in responding to crises and emergency situations.
- Administer medications as prescribed by the physician following policies and procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate care and documentation to ensure adherence to regulations and established standards.
- Monitor and evaluate environment and care practices to assure safe and cost-effective care for achievement of residents’ optimal level of functioning.
- Identify actual or potential safety and infection control problems and initiate corrective action.
- Ensure that ample supplies are available and that equipment is in good working order.
- Maintain a neat and appropriate personal appearance.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Assume responsibility for, and complete required documentation in a legible and timely manner.
- Demonstrate and encourage the use of proper body mechanics with safe lifting and transfer techniques.
- Foster a collaborative approach in working relationships with other Health Services staff, as well as the residents, their families and friends, medical staff, and other departments in the community.
- Respond to emergency calls or designate the appropriate person to do so.
- Uphold the rights of each resident and ensure confidentiality.
- Participate in the planning, directing, and evaluation of delivery of health services.
- Participate in staff development programs and encourage opportunities for growth and individual development for staff and the residents. In addition, provide at least one in-service annually to the Health Services staff.
- Support personnel policies; recommend changes to the DON, keep the Health Services staff informed of changes.
- Respect individual abilities, knowledge, and skills of both residents and staff.
- Serve as acting DON as assigned.
- Serve as Incident Commander-in-Chief in absence of higher-level management during emergency situations.
- Maintain punctuality and regular and predictable attendance in order to meet the daily clinical needs of the residents.
Education: Graduate of a National League of Nursing (NLN) approved school of nursing. Recent graduates of an RN program are eligible for employment at Foxdale Village before they take their Board Exam if they present a graduate permit.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience as a professional RN (in which potential administrative and supervisory competence has been demonstrated) is preferred. Experience in the field of gerontological nursing is desirable.
Language: Must be able to effectively communicate in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, instructions and procedures.
Math: Must be able to complete tasks and drug calculations using basic mathematical skills.
Computer: Basic computer skills necessary for completing electronic incident reports and accessing electronic medical records.
Training: License to practice nursing as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Must possess a valid CPR card.
