Software Developer
Description

 We are looking for a strong C/Rust programmer willing to work in a fast-paced environment requiring broad experience, adaptability, quick learning, and excellent problem-solving skills.  You will be working on performance-critical, systems-level software and will play a key role in modernizing our codebase by migrating a production-grade C application to Rust.  This role also involves finding and fixing defects.  This candidate will also interact with Sales, Technical Support, Testers, Project Managers, and FAEs to deliver robust solutions. MUST BE LOCAL TO AREA, POSITION IS ONSITE.

Requirements

 Objectives & Responsibilities 

  

  • The individual will be responsible for supporting and enhancing our deviceWISE products
  • contribute to the ongoing migration of an existing C codebase to idiomatic, safe, and performant Rust.
  • Performs coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting on a variety of operating systems and gateways
  • Develops solutions for a variety of Windows and Linux operating system environments
  • Organizes and schedules their work and determines the best approach to solve a range of highly complex technical problems
  • Participates in architecture, design, code reviews and unit testing
  • Provides application support, analysis and design related to new and existing applications as well as finding innovative and cutting-edge solutions to meet business needs
  • Interacts with architects, project management, developers, testers, and other engineers to estimate, plan, design, test, and release new solutions according to the committed plans
  • Provides Level 3 support and interacts with support engineers, management, and customers as needed

 Requirements & Qualifications 


  • MUST BE LOCAL TO AREA, POSITION IS ONSITE
  • Must be Proficient in C (5 years+) and Rust (2 Years+)
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Memory management
  • Pointers and data alignment
  • System calls and IPC
  • Concurrency and synchronization primitives
  • Comfortable using build systems like Autoconf, Make, CMake, and cargo
  • Experience writing code that runs in constrained environments (e.g., bare metal, embedded Linux, RTOS).
  • Experience in the Windows/Linux environment including tools for debugging, profiling, and version control

 Preferred Qualifications 

  

  • Experience converting projects from C to Rust.
  • Contributions to open-source Rust projects.
  • Familiar with Rust design patterns and dependency injection.
  • Experience writing Rust crates.
