Description
As a member of a dynamic development team, the Layout Designer will be responsible for the layout of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for carrier-grade Optical Transport, Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE)
What You’ll Do
- Work together with hardware engineers, software engineers and manufacturing to ensure PCB is designed for testability and manufacturability
- Interpret schematics in the process of placing components and routing the PCB
- Route traces and planes to achieve the design specifications and performance parameters
- Design rule checking
- Manage layout footprint library
- Create manufacturing outputs to be sent to PCB vendor for fabrication
Requirements
- Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent coupled with 5+ years' experience in PCB layout for high-speed Digital, Electro-optic, RF or Power Supply
- Basic understanding of electronic principles and circuit behavior
- Signal Integrity and Thermal Management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Foster Collaboration with the design team
- Ability to identify and resolve design issues to optimize PCB layouts
- Basic understanding of Mechanical design principles relevant to PCB design
- Experience with Mentor Pads (an asset)
- Understanding of DFM/DFT to ensure boards can achieve high factory yield

- Experience with hardware design of high-speed circuits
- Advanced electronics knowledge

- Design reuse principles to speed up design cycles
