Requirements

  

The Inside Sales Representative is responsible for meeting the daily demand for sod orders from wholesale and commercial customers within an assigned territory. This primarily inside sales role focuses on taking inbound orders, advising customers on product selection and delivery scheduling, and coordinating logistics to maximize efficiency. The position requires strong product knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work closely with delivery teams and farm personnel to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Handle daily inbound sales calls and orders from landscapers, garden centers, builders, municipalities, and contractors.
  • Advise customers on product selection, quantities, and delivery scheduling based on product availability and farm capacity.
  • Coordinate load planning by pairing less-than-full orders regionally to maximize delivery efficiency.
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge on sod varieties, aggregate materials, and hardscape products.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with Farm teams to ensure quality and work with Transportation department to ensure accurate time frame delivery schedules. 
  • Identify potential new sales opportunities during customer interactions and report leads to management. 
  • Document sales activities and customer interactions in the CRM system accurately and timely.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues to management as needed.
  • Assist with inventory monitoring and reporting product demand trends.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in agriculture, horticulture, turf, or related industries. 
  • Strong communication and consultative selling skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. 
  • Ability to understand and explain product specifications and technical information. 
  • Cold calling experience. 
  • Proficient with CRM software (Microsoft Dynamics Business Central) and basic computer applications. 
  • Customer-focused with a problem-solving mindset. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Business, Sales, or related field preferred.

Preferred Attributes

  • Knowledge of sod types, agronomy, or landscaping materials.
  • Familiarity with regional markets and customer base.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Positive attitude, resilient in the face of challenges, and highly motivated to succeed.
  • Willingness to travel. 25%. Some overnight.
