Outpatient Mental Health Therapist-Independent Contractor

POSITION OVERVIEW

An outpatient mental health therapist independent contractor provides counseling to individuals, couples and families aged 3 through adulthood. 

EXPERIENCE: An independent contractor for Center for Families and Relationships (CFAR) outpatient mental health clinic must have a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Art Therapy or some other psychology related field with at least two years of mental health experience OR the completion of a clinical internship at CFAR. Those with less than two years of post-grad experience are required to have an enhanced supervision plan.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES  

  • Provide all services using a strength-based, trauma-informed, family-focused approach. 
  • Maintains documentation in a timely, thorough, and accurate manner 
  • Collects and monitors all required data and outcomes for clients. 
  • Complete a two-day orientation at CFAR in which mandatory training is completed, policies and procedures are reviewed and training in clinical documentation takes place. 
  • Attend bi-weekly group supervision and weekly individual supervision. Contractors are to come prepared to supervision with cases to present, bringing at least one video-taped session bi-weekly for supervisors to review. 
  • Independent Contractors are expected to inform supervisors when they will be taking time off.
  • Independent Contractors are expected to work to provide a minimum of 10 client billable hours per week on average. At least one day a week they need to provide services in the physical office space unless prior approval is given to work fully remote.
  • Schedule all clients in our electronic health record system and complete all progress notes by Monday morning at 9am. Contractors will not be paid until notes are written for services rendered.
  • Complete treatment plans and obtain client signatures according to CFAR policy. 
  • Discharge clients and complete paperwork for clients who have not been seen within 30 days.  
  • Make best efforts to engage clients in treatment, processing successes and challenges with supervisors. 
  • Attend monthly team meetings. 
  • Complete incident reports within 24 hours 
  • Abide by the AAMFT Code of Ethics and all other CFAR policies and procedures.
