Reports to: Varsity Head Coach/Director(s) of Athletics
Stipend: $3,000
Work hours and expectations:
On- and off-campus responsibilities are possible from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Depending on evening games and playoffs, coaching responsibilities may result in extended weekday or weekend commitments. All coaches are employed on a seasonal basis, and continued employment is based on annual performance reviews conducted by the Athletic Director(s).
Primary responsibilities:
Working closely with the athletic department, the middle school coach, and the varsity head coach. The assistant softball coach is responsible for initiating various aspects of the softball program, including program development and training, as well as working closely with team members. The coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by Fort Worth Christian and follow the mission and vision of FWC. FWC is a member of TAPPS.
Required knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree optional;
- Possess and maintain a coaching philosophy that is in accordance with the mission of Fort Worth Christian.
- Committed to living and teaching a life of service to Christ in accordance with the mission and vision, and the FWC Statement of Faith.
- A solid commitment to the student-athlete concept;
- 3-5 years of Coaching or playing experience preferred.
- Effective leadership and coaching skills;
- Excellent communication skills with players, parents, coaches, and the athletic leadership team.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a school vehicle or mini-bus.
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
Specific responsibilities:
- Encourage, train, and coach the participants of the softball program (Grades 6-8 or Grades 9-12).
- Coordinate the development and promotion of the softball program (Grades 6-8 or Grades 9-12) in conjunction with the mission of the school;
- Organize practice sessions;
- Must maintain a safe practice environment;
- Represent Fort Worth Christian and the softball program in a professional manner and within the bounds of our code of conduct, athletics handbook, and good sportsmanship;
This is a seasonal position that is paid a coaching stipend throughout the season.
