Hybrid - Part-Time Custodian - Set-Up/Tear-Down

Position Summary:

This position provides essential support for custodial services and the set-up/tear-down processes that enable ministry across HDC campuses. Based primarily at the Victorville Campus, this role will include travel to all campuses as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining clean and safe facilities, preparing rooms for events and services, and supporting weekend set-up/tear-down operations. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Principal Working Relationships:

Reports directly to HDC’s Event Director and may receive direction from HDC’s Maintenance Director or a designated weekend lead team member.

Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to):

  • Maintain building and property in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Arrange, set-up, and tear-down facility equipment for church services, events, and meetings.
  • Prepare and set out hospitality needs for events and meetings.
  • Unload, transport, and position equipment, chairs, tables, poles, curtains, and stage pieces for services/events.
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties: sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum floors, clean restrooms, dust furniture/walls, clean windows and mirrors, empty trash, etc.
  • Safely mix and use cleaning solutions and chemicals per instructions.
  • Assist with routine maintenance activities and notify management of needed repairs.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies.
  • Support other team members and demonstrate a positive, servant-hearted attitude (Col. 3:17).
Requirements

Position Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods, procedures, and safe chemical handling.
  • Ability to work with urgency to complete set-up/tear-down within assigned timeframes.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter, problem solver, and team player.
  • Physical ability to: stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch for extended periods.
  • Perform repetitive motion and overhead work for long periods.
  • Lift/move up to 50 lbs. unassisted; grasp, carry, and position items of various shapes/sizes.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Experience with cleaning equipment (vacuums, floor buffers, etc.).
  • Basic technology skills (email, web browser, phone/tablet apps, timeclocks).
  • Must adhere to HDC’s Statement of Faith, Constitution, and Policies.
