The Whole-Person Approach Resource Program (WARP) is Posterity Group’s innovative, data-driven initiative to reduce suicide risk and improve outcomes for service members and veterans, including Justice-Involved Veterans (JIVs). WARP integrates data and services across DoD, VA, and community partners (healthcare, legal, housing, employment, and mental health) to create a coordinated, “whole person” view of each veteran and support timely, targeted interventions. The Database Engineer/Developer will be central to building the secure, scalable data environment that makes this integration and analytics possible.


Position Summary

The Database Engineer/Developer will lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of the WARP data architecture in a FedRAMP-compliant AWS or Microsoft Azure environment.


This role will:

  • Design and implement data models that integrate multi-domain data (clinical, legal, housing, employment, social) into a unified veteran-centric view
  • Analyze user requirements and identify the appropriate database solution 
  • Design and develop database architectures and systems 
  • Implement and manage database security protocols to protect sensitive data 
  • Write and optimize SQL statements for data access and retention 
  • Debug and optimize existing and new database systems 
  • Ensure database systems perform at optimum levels 
  • Document database design, operation, and backup processes 
  • Work closely with other teams, such as developers and data analysts, to ensure seamless data integration 
  • Perform regular tests and troubleshooting to ensure data security, privacy and integrity 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and identify areas for implementation 
  • Recommend upgrades or improvements for existing database systems 
Requirements

Database Engineering / Development 

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Database Engineer, Data Engineer, or Database Developer. 
  • 3+ years designing and implementing relational database schemas for complex, multi-entity domains. 
  • Experience supporting production systems with sensitive or regulated data (healthcare, government, financial, etc.).

Cloud & AWS 

  • 2+ years working with AWS data services (e.g., RDS, Aurora, Redshift, DynamoDB, S3, Glue, Lambda). 
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing databases in secure, compliant cloud environments. 

Data Integration & ETL 

  • 3+ years building ETL/ELT pipelines (e.g., using Python, SQL, Glue, dbt, or similar tools). 
  • Experience integrating data from multiple, heterogeneous systems (APIs, flat files, EHRs, legacy databases). 

Analytics Support 

  • Experience supporting data analysts/epidemiologists/statisticians with data marts, views, and optimized data structures. 
  • Familiarity with analytical workflows (e.g., R, Python, SAS, SQL-based BI tools).
