Receiver Stocker



The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Archdiocese of St. Louis (SVDP), is a grassroots, volunteer-based, direct-aid organization that brings together men and women to grow in their spirituality through service for others.  We have been serving the Greater St. Louis area since 1845.  We are part of a national organization and linked by the common mission of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. 


The Archdiocesan Council is composed of 140+ parish-based volunteer groups called Conferences.  The Main Council operation serves as a resource and support system for these Conferences. 


The Receiver/Stocker position provides courteous and professional services to donors by assisting at the dock with their donations, processing the donations, and stocking the items to ensure the success of SVDP’s mission.







  • Presents a professional, clean appearance and provide courteous service to all customers.
  • Responds quickly to the bell for customer service needed at the dock.
  • Assists customers lifting the donated items, may lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Utilizes resources to assist with heavy lifting as an electric forklift (must be certified) or other staff to help.
  • Assists the drivers with the unloading of large and heavy donated items and with the loading of items for recycling.
  • Brings items out to the floor for display and stocking.
  • Assists customers loading items in vehicles.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned. 



Organization Mission and Policies:

  • Supports and demonstrates excellent customer assistance by following the SVDP’s Customer Service Motto to “Serve our Valuable Customers with Distinction and Purpose” which defines “our valuable customers” as both internal and external; i.e. co-workers, donators, vendors, organizational contacts and thrift store consumers.


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification operating a forklift.
  • Experienced using proper loading and unloading techniques for maximum use of space and limited damage to product
  • The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, climb or balance.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
