Your Impact in PACU & Pre-Op

As an essential member of our perioperative team, you will coordinate and deliver exceptional care during the most critical phases of the patient’s stay:

  • Expert Clinical Coordination: Plan and organize daily activities for Pre-op and PACU, ensuring a safe environment that meets the highest post-anesthesia standards of care.
  • Advanced Patient Assessment: Monitor and maintain patient status across all systems (Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Neurological, etc.) to ensure a safe recovery.
  • Patient Advocacy & Education: Provide knowledgeable instructions and training to patients and their families, ensuring they feel confident and cared for throughout the surgical process.
  • Infection Prevention: Perform vital interventions to protect patients from surgical site infections and maintain baseline physiological balances.
  • Detailed Documentation: Maintain accurate reports of nursing interventions and observations within our EMR system.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Licensure: Valid Michigan RN License.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Experience: 2 years of pre-operative or post-anesthesia experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional verbal communication, a high degree of attention to detail, and a commitment to HIPAA and safety protocols.

GENERAL SUMMARY


The ASC Registered Nurse – PACU is an essential member of the health care team who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating the care of patients in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN consistently delivers high-quality patient care during the pre- and post-operative phase of the patient’s stay in the surgery center.  


Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Plans and organizes the daily activities of the Pre-operative and PACU areas in accordance with instructions of the clinical director, physicians and the center’s administrative procedures.
  • Responsible for the provision of a safe environment by following the post anesthesia standards of care.
  • Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
  • Performs interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.
  • Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
  • Assesses and provides appropriate and knowledgeable instructions/training/education to patients and family members throughout the perioperative process.
  • Reports and documents all pertinent observations and nursing interventions.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.


CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS


  • RN license and certification as required by state.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS required.

  • 2 years' pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred.
