STRIVE Atlanta is the first wholly-owned expansion site of the STRIVE organization, headquartered in New York City with programs operating in cities across the United States. 


SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Communications Intern for fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters. The Communications Intern will gain hands-on practical communications and nonprofit experience and substantive learning opportunities with staff across the organization. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Communications Intern will assist with the development and execution of STRIVE Atlanta’s social media, digital marketing and communications as well as have opportunities to be involved with fundraising events and mission programming.


Note:

 The Communications Intern is an unpaid internship; academic credit is an option. The internship is virtual for fall 2020, with all in-person activities to be scheduled in accordance with the academic schedule. The internship is conducted without entitlement to a paid job at the conclusion of the internship.


Requirements

ANTICIPATED PROJECTS OVERVIEW:

  •  Assist with creation, implementation and monitoring of social media and web content.
  •  Support creation and execution of PR materials including press releases, email marketing assets (including client, donor and stakeholder facing), and event promotional materials.
  •  Assist with organizational events, virtual and in-person.
  •  Provide administrative assistance on an as-needed basis.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  •  Strong written communications skills.
  •  Experience with social media and web platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Squarespace (or similar). 
  • Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or English major(s) preferred or interest and experience in communications.
  • Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate or Graduate certificate/Graduate non-degree; recent graduates may also apply.
  • Able to commit 15-20 hours per week for a full semester.
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  •  Creative, energetic and fun!
