Description
Under general directive supervision, works with others in performing skilled electrical maintenance and construction, such as testing, troubleshooting, adjusting, calibrating, overhaul and construction on plant electrical equipment, circuits, systems and apparatus. Employees will be expected to help lead other electricians on maintenance and project assignments.
- Maintaining and repairing generators, exciters, motors and associated equipment. Conduct motor inspection, bearing replacement, and motor alignment. Replacing and adjusting brushes and brush holders.
- Maintaining and repairing electrical control equipment, interlocks, electrical equipment on cranes, precipitators, conveyors, fans, pumps and associated equipment.
- Responding to maintenance requests on plant equipment, investigating root cause, making necessary repairs, releasing equipment when ready for service, observing operation of the equipment.
- Directing, inspecting, instructing and training employees of lower or the same job classification in electrical maintenance work. Conducts work to ensure employees under their direction are safeguarded at all times.
- Installing, adjusting and calibrating electrical equipment control devices, instrumentation, transducers, meters and relays, busses and wiring on switching and connecting structures in plants.
- Conducting electrical testing of equipment and cables, including hi-potential tests, insulation, megger, continuity, and vibration.
- Installation, maintenance, and repair of distribution switchgear and auxiliary equipment.
- Installation of electrical equipment and raceways, including support structures and performing non code welding, brazing, soldering, electric arc welding and oxyacetylene burning.
- Maintaining and repairing storage batteries, battery changing equipment and uninterruptable power systems (UPS).
- Coordinating with supervisors and production crew for clearance and removal of equipment from service; both mechanical and electrical. Isolation and de-isolation of equipment per the Clearance procedure.
- Performing rigging, tackle, blocking, scaffolding, ladders, and moving heavy parts and equipment. Directs the movement and lifting of heavy equipment.
- Maintaining and repairing controls on auxiliary equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLC's).
- Installation and replacement of solenoid valves.
- Performs precision alignments on motor driven equipment.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, modifying variable frequency drives and programming.
- Troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and calibrating electronic controls on precipitators, transformer rectifiers and electronic rapper controls.
- Performing tasks assigned for continuity or restoration of service in an emergency.
- Performs confined space monitoring and completes all required documentation.
- Assists and develops electrical maintenance procedures.
- Maintains work areas, tools and equipment in a neat, clean and presentable condition.
- Capable of operating mobile plant equipment such as Forklifts, Skid Steers, and Man Lifts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Must meet the Company’s requirements as to General Qualifications in accordance with the Job Manual including:
- Must have at least a two-year technical degree in related field from an accredited school or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of applied electricity and electronics, including AC and DC electrical circuits, machinery, measurements and calculations.
- Must be knowledgeable in electrical layout, construction, functions and operations of electrical equipment and circuit connections.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the function of the electrical equipment and machinery installed in the plants.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of the maintenance, repair, construction and safety practices of the departments.
- Must possess knowledge of and be able to utilize required corporate databases.
- Must be able to work from complex, detailed drawings, circuit diagrams, specifications, and blueprints.
- Must possess a thorough working knowledge of power plant machinery and equipment operation.
- Must know the names of individual parts of equipment and be able to identify them in the stores supply.
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of safe rigging methods for work within the scope of this job.
- Must have the ability to receive and pass on orders and instructions in such a manner that will maintain safety and promote harmony, cooperation and satisfactory work results from assigned employees and co-workers.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license required to do work and must meet the Company's driving requirements.
- Must be able to work at high elevations and in restricted or confined spaces. Must be able to work out of scaffolding, ladders, bucket trucks, manlifts, etc.
- Willingness to work shifts and overtime.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Full-Time Hourly (Non-Exempt) position starting at $38.34/hr. Pay will be commensurate with experience.
