JOB SUMMARY
The Homestead Cybrarium is hiring for a new Assistant Director! This position reports to the Library Director and works closely with them to oversee the operations of the Cybrarium. It is an ideal role for someone with supervisory experience in the public library sector. The Assistant Director has direct oversight of the Circulation and IT teams, ensuring that patrons receive exceptional customer service and access to our technology. Additionally, the Assistant Director will manage the library's Technology Plan of Service and will liaise with LS&S IT to meet the plan's goals and timelines.
The Assistant Director will actively promote the Cybrarium to the community in a meaningful and enriching manner, enhancing the patron experience and increasing visits and usage.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responds to and resolves patron issues, including inquiries about accounts and enforcement of policies.
- Liaises with internal staff, client staff, and external partners as needed.
- Serves as Manager on Duty in the absence of the Director.
- Works closely with the IT team to address the information technology needs of the Cybrarium.
- Manages circulation and technology personnel, which includes hiring, training, evaluating, developing, and scheduling staff.
- Collaborates with the circulation team to ensure that scheduling and tasks align with the priorities of the Cybrarium.
- Manages the cash handling process in partnership with the city.
- Oversees the collection in partnership with the Director, ensuring that weeding, inventory, and maintenance are performed to keep the collection vibrant.
- Manages appropriate staff to maintain an attractive, organized, and well-utilized library.
- Provides effective communication regarding procedures and processes to both staff and the public and works with relevant staff to develop improved processes and enhancements.
- Assists in the implementation of human resources policies, procedures, and processes.
- Gathers and maintains information and data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities within the area of responsibility.
- Writes and implements program grants in partnership with the Director.
- Manages custodial and related contracts to ensure the proper condition and operation of the library.
- Adheres to all legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and the custodianship of patron records.
- Understands and administers the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement, and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental principle of public libraries. Additionally, supports customer discretion regarding the materials available at their local library.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, trai required level of education, training, and/or work experience ning and/or work experience required.
- ALA-accredited Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science degree required
- Public library experience preferred
- Minimum of (1) year of successful public library management/supervisory experience required
- Prior experience with Polaris strongly preferred
- Experience tracking usage statistics, data collection and excel reports
- Excellent technical skills, including familiarity with Windows, Microsoft Suite, and knowledge of various technologies
- Ability to build strong teams and develop staff
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Superior customer service skills
- Accommodate a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
- Occasionally lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, books, and other materials.
