We are seeking a dependable and detailed Mechanic who will be responsible for installing, assembling, inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and plumbing systems throughout the boat manufacturing process. This includes engines, propulsion components, fuel systems, pumps, steering, plumbing, tanks, hoses, fittings, and other onboard mechanical equipment.

The Mechanic is responsible for ensuring assigned equipment and systems are installed correctly, securely, and in accordance with engineering specifications, manufacturer requirements, company quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable marine industry standards. This position works closely with Production, Engineering, Electrical, and Quality Control to identify and correct installation or performance concerns and ensure vessels meet required quality and operational standards prior to completion and release.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment throughout the boat manufacturing process.

· Install and service engines, propulsion components, steering systems, pumps, fuel systems, tanks, and related mechanical equipment.

· Install and route marine plumbing systems, including freshwater, raw-water, drainage, bilge, sanitation, fuel, and cooling systems.

· Install hoses, fittings, valves, strainers, pumps, clamps, and related components according to engineering and manufacturer specifications.

· Inspect and verify completed installations to ensure equipment is properly mounted, secured, connected, aligned, and functioning as intended.

· Perform functional testing and troubleshoot leaks, improper connections, performance concerns, overheating, pressure issues, and other mechanical deficiencies.

· Ensure installations comply with company quality standards, engineering specifications, manufacturer requirements, safety procedures, and applicable marine industry standards.

· Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, installation instructions, and equipment specifications.

· Identify and correct installation or workmanship issues and communicate concerns to Production, Engineering, or Quality Control as needed.

· Support final inspections and sea trial preparation by verifying mechanical and plumbing systems are operational and correcting identified deficiencies before vessel release.

· Follow OSHA requirements, company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and proper handling and disposal practices for oils, fluids, chemicals, and other waste.

· Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

· Proven experience as a Boat Mechanic or Marine Technician.

· Strong knowledge of boat engines, electrical systems, fuel systems, and mechanical components.

· Proficiency in installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various boat makes and models.

· Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and equipment related to boat repair and maintenance.

· Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.

· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in simple terms.

· Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude .

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, including tools, equipment, and marine parts, weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Comfort working in tight spaces, such as inside engine rooms or under decks, and at heights, when necessary.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for working with small electrical components, wiring, and tools.
• Good vision to read electrical diagrams, inspect wiring, and ensure proper connections.
• Comfort working in tight spaces or at heights.

Schedule:  Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm,  with occasional weekend assignments.

This role is based in a boat manufacturing or repair facility. The work environment may involve exposure to chemicals and fumes, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
