About the Opportunity:

Cary Medical Center is seeking two full-time Emergency Room Physicians to join our 24-hour ED, which manages approximately 16,000 visits annually. Our Emergency Department is a Level II trauma center, treating a wide range of cases. Major trauma, cardiac, neurosurgery, and other critical cases are stabilized and transferred to tertiary care centers.

Our physicians work alongside highly trained nursing staff in a well-equipped department featuring one trauma room and 11 exam rooms. Patients are prioritized by severity, with Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners managing less urgent cases.

Work Schedule & Flexibility:

  • Physicians create their own schedules, typically working three 12-hour shifts one week and four the next.
  • Flexible staffing options, including per diem and part-time schedules, are available.

About Our Emergency Department:


Cary Medical Center is one of four rural hospitals in Aroostook County and has the highest Emergency Medicine volume in the region. The patient population is largely elderly, with cardiac and respiratory complaints comprising a significant portion of visits. Transfers most commonly include psychiatric, trauma, neurosurgical, and emergent cardiac cases.


Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly pay, negotiable based on experience
  • Partial health insurance coverage; full malpractice insurance coverage
  • Up to $600/year for professional licensing and subscriptions
  • Six weeks annual time for vacation, CME, sick leave, and holidays
  • CME allowance up to $2,500/year
  • Relocation assistance available
  • Education loan repayment, typically paid in six-month increments over the life of the initial agreement

Qualifications:

  • Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine, or board certified/eligible in primary care with ED experience
  • Allopathic and osteopathic physicians considered equally
  • U.S.-trained and foreign-trained physicians with completed U.S. residency or fellowship considered
  • H-1B and J-1 visa candidates welcome
  • In-practice physicians, residents, fellows, and military-trained physicians all considered
