Anderson Valley Health Center (AVHC) is currently seeking a Front Desk Patient Services Representative to assist residents of Anderson Valley, including a large migrant and seasonal farm-working population. We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) offering Primary, Behavioral and Dental care, as well as an onsite pharmacy dispensary. AVHC is a single-site FQHC located in downtown Boonville, CA. As the sole provider in our town, we offer “one-stop-shopping services for residents of Anderson Valley. This position is a full-time, employed position (5 8-hour days a week). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer phones at the front desk, make appointments, confirm appointments, take messages for providers or nurses and direct calls to appropriate clinic or community resource.
- Assist patients by providing forms necessary to collect data for registering into and maintaining the practice management system.
- Assist front desk staff with schedule patient follow up visits as patients check out.
- Assist patients needing access to care by referring patients to other resources within the Clinic and community when appropriate.
- Assist with the collection of encounter forms and any payments due from patients after their visit.
- Ensure appropriate scheduling according to allowances of insurance types.
- Professionally represent AVHC through positive, courteous and professional patient contact.
- Adhere to the strict HIPAA law regarding health information protection.
- Maintain integrity of patient data, by verifying and correcting information within patient management system.
- Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints and/or suggestions and providing appropriate responses.
- Demonstrate competent ability to utilize software, websites, phone system and other office equipment.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two or more years’ experience in a related field, preferably in a dental or medical reception office.
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize daily work.
- Proficient use of software, websites, phone system and other office equipment.
- Proficient data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Work under pressure with competing priorities.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
LANGUAGE:
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English. Spanish fluency required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is sedentary in nature. Prolonged sitting, talking, and listening on the telephone, writing, reading, and communicating one-on-one, typing, viewing video display terminal: 70% of time sitting, 20% of time walking, and 10% of time standing.
- Must be able to lift up-to 40 pounds and push up to 60 pounds (on wheels).
- You must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person and speak clearly to communicate information to clients and staff.
- Must have vision that it is adequate to read memos, registration forms and other clinic documents. Work includes periods of time viewing the computer display monitor.
- Must have high manual dexterity. Frequent repetitive hand and wrist motions. Work includes periods of time operating the computer keyboard.
- Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, walk, squat, sit for periods of up to 2 hours at a time, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn, grasp and feel.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $21.00 per hour
