Description
Aria Care Partners, a leading vision care provider in the nursing home sector, is currently seeking an in office, Optical Coordinator (Optician), to assist with the processes involved in providing glasses to elderly residents in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. We are seeking a responsible candidate that demonstrates professionalism and attention to detail as well as the ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for hundreds of plans across the country
- Invoice glasses to facilities and families accurately and promptly
- Order glasses and related optical supplies as needed
- Manage medical records requests and facilitate communication between optometrists, pharmacies, nursing homes, and outside physicians
- Process insurance claims and handle records requests with insurance companies
- Process credit card payments and manage financial transactions
- Handle checks and deposits to ensure proper financial documentation
- Sort and distribute mail in the absence of the office manager
- Manage glasses repairs and coordinate repairs with appropriate vendors
- Answer phones and communicate effectively with facilities, patients, and families
- Assist with provisions and ordering of equipment and supplies for doctors and field teams
- Handle telehealth requests and coordinate virtual consultations
- Take the lead in running the department and managing daily operations in the absence of the department head
Requirements
Education & Training Requirements
- 1 year of relevant experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
Other Qualifications
- Proven experience in healthcare administration, optometry, or related field
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of insurance verification and billing processes
- Proficiency in medical records management and electronic health records systems
- Ability to handle financial transactions accurately
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms is a plus
