Description

Windward School, a grade 7-12 college-preparatory, independent day school in vibrant West Los Angeles, is currently seeking an experienced and innovative educator to join our Math Department.

 

The Mathematics Department teaches with a focus on student engagement and growth mindset and is looking for a dynamic part-time teacher to join our collaborative team. The successful candidate will ideally have independent school experience with a degree in Mathematics and/or Math Education. 


We are looking for a teacher for the following (2 sections; 40% FTE) ideally starting Dec 15 (or by mid-January at the latest) through June 2026: 

Calculus, non-honors (1 section)

AP Statistics (1 section)

Summary of Major Responsibilities

  • Teach two sections of Math as listed above 
  • Design, coordinate, and implement lessons with math department members of the same courses
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ progress and communicate with families and Division teams regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with department members on evaluating and refining curriculum based on student progress and trends in mathematical education
  • Participate in regular, purposeful pedagogy meetings and professional development sessions
  • Participate actively in the life of the school through attendance at events, committee membership, and/or leadership of extracurricular activities
  • Perform other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job, as requested by the divisional directors

Salary Range: $30,240 - $57,496 (this represents the pro-rated, 40% FTE salary), depending on experience. Please review the Faculty Salary Calculator on our Careers page for additional information.

Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a closely related field, advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of three years of full-time classroom experience teaching Mathematics, five or more years preferred
  • A demonstrable passion for mathematical thinking and working with young people 
  • Evidence of significant recent professional development
  • Excellent technology skills and experience integrating technology into the curriculum
  • Experience in a school with a similar philosophy, teaching methods, and curricula to those of Windward; knowledge and understanding of independent school communities preferred
  • Willingness to contribute to school life outside of the classroom
  • A proven commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people
