Senior Accountant

Location: Remote (occasional travel to Boston, MA)

Reports To: Director of Finance / Controller

About the Role

Opus Regulatory is seeking a Senior Accountant who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of end-to-end accounting operations. This role will play a key part in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, Timecard Management, Month-End Close, and Financial Analysis.
 

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing daily transactional responsibilities with providing strategic financial insight. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, supporting monthly and annual close processes, and contributing to budgeting, reporting, and leadership analyses.

Key Responsibilities

· Month-End Close: Lead month-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure timely and accurate results.

· Billing & Accounts Receivable: Manage all aspects of client billing, collections, and cash applications. Ensure invoices are issued accurately and promptly in alignment with project deliverables and contract terms.

· Accounts Payable: Oversee vendor invoice processing, coding, and payments with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls.

· Audit Preparation: Support annual audit activities by maintaining comprehensive backup documentation and preparing required schedules.

· Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of the annual budget and conduct ongoing monthly budget-to-actual variance analyses.

· Financial Reporting & Analysis: Deliver tailored reports and performance insights to leadership, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

· Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and implement process enhancements that increase accounting efficiency, accuracy, and scalability as Opus continues to grow.


Requirements

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within professional services or consulting.· Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting principles.· Experience with Certinia ERP and Salesforce CRM preferred.· Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for reporting, reconciliations, and analysis.· Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and analytical thinking.· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.· Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Paylocity, and Dropbox a plus.
